Introduction

Have you ever been in a situation where you thought, “When is Rakesh’s birthday? When is Diwali? Is today the last day to pay my bills? Do I have to buy grocery today? Is Manasi's wedding in December? Do I have to submit form today? When is Amavasya? Ohh!! Today is Sankshti, etc”.

Clearly, calendar is a very important part of our daily life. Today, calendar is one of the basic needs of man and it is part of every routine work of our life. 'Each day' is different for different people in different cultures. Calendar serves the important purpose of being a common language for people belonging to different cultural backgrounds. At the same time, it conveys the important information about festivals, events, nakshtra etc.

Kalnirnay, India's premiere brand of almanac maker, provides up-to-date information, according to Hindu calendar. It is a combination of calendar and almanac. It gives information about the current day, all festivals, important days and tithis according to Hindu calendar. Kalnirnay is not just a calendar but a day-to-day companion, scheduler, informer and friend for the entire household in India. It is emotional symbol of Indians and conveys the culture of India.

This project report summarizes my work on innovative design of an “Interactive Calendar” for Kalnirnay which will easily transform the static information into dynamic information for its users. This calendar mainly focuses on answering the needs of typical Marathi household in the context of every day living. It will provide options for personalization and keep track of your noting and sharing with other users using it.
